The Tiedges!

David and Nedj tied the knot at the Birkby House in Leesburg and their wedding day was the first time we met. (Although after a FaceTime and months of stalking, I felt like I did know them already). They are so cute, kind, and fun loving people.

Their first look gave me all the feels and so did the rest of their day...

Steven & Amanda

Steven and Amanda’s wedding day was so beautiful and FUN. Katie and I woke up early to drive to VA Beach that Saturday morning (neither of us having been before, wished we had planned for a longer trip because it was prefect beach weather… in September). We had a lot of fun capturing their first look and some bridal portraits on the beach before heading to the ceremony at the Water Table, a local and gorgeous venue. Amanda put a lot of effort into the details. She and her dad even custom built the bar. It made the day that more special.

The only thing missing was their Frenchie son, Winston. (Don’t worry Winnie, we’ll have a separate bridal session just for you.)

Hers & Kerz

I LOVE when my couples become my friends. I have been waiting for Allison and Aaron's wedding since the day they agreed to hire me. That's right y'all, they're another couple I forced myself upon. Over a year ago, Boris - their adorable and crazy French Bulldog, posted on our local Frenchie FB page that his mommy was engaged. So naturally, Bowser suggested that his mommy take their photos. (I mean, who can deny French taste in art?) Allison and Aaron are so outgoing, caring, and fun loving and I immediately fell in love when I met them.

Guys, your wedding day was. truly. perfect. It was SO full of love and happiness - even I got teary eyed. (And I keep crying every time I look at these photos!) Thank you both so much for hiring me, and even more so for befriending me. Love you guys!

Caroline & Julian Cuddle Up

Caroline and Julian got married at the oh so cool Glen Echo Park. I didn't know a retro park could be so romantic. Everything went so smoothly that the ceremony started EARLY. (That was a first for me). I loved everything about their day, carousel rides, flower walls, a live band who played The Allman Brothers and Leon Bridges. Heck, I want to marry these two!

Joey Said Jess

You might have noticed that I haven't blogged in a LONG TIME. I've kept putting it off; trying to complete tasks deemed more important. Well, I need to change that, and I knew I needed to even more so after my first wedding this year. Joey and Jess have a love for one another that I strive for. I don't need to be a close friend to know how much they care for each other. I literally had to get a hold of myself several times throughout their day. (And then even more while I was editing). Good luck viewing these without getting the feels.

Those of you who know me, know I have a terrible memory, but I remember meeting Ian and Joanna like it was yesterday. Their adoration for each other was (is) palpable. (They have the googly eye look DOWN.)

Their nuptials took place at Joanna's godparents' home in Annapolis. That Saturday was a nice reprieve from the summer heat and all was calm. Ian was the first face we saw upon arriving. Already knowing their first look would be at the aisle, he said "Joanna is upstairs. She doesn't want me to see her before the ceremony"... we then go to greet Joanna and she said "Ian should be next door. He doesn't want me to see him before the ceremony". This gave Megan and I a sweet chuckle.

One of my other favorite moments from the day, was when we were photographing Joanna on the staircase right before the ceremony, and the end of her train flipped up to reveal a blue fabric heart stitched inside. The heart was cut out from one of Joanna's father's shirts. Even though he has passed, he was certainly with her on her wedding day.

The entire day was magical and so full of love. Congratulations Ian & Joanna!

Introducing Mr. & Mrs. McKee

Matt and Julie are probably the sweetest people on the planet, followed by their family and friends. They tied the knot at Circle D Farm in Maryland which was gorgeous! Summer also blessed us with what I'm sure was the last hottest day of the year, but it was worth it!

The reception was a blast. I particularly loved the cousin love. Y'all got some moves!

Hager Gets Some Mo

I first met Derek after a mutual friend put us in touch regarding his proposal. I had been dying to to shoot a proposal, having not even ever witnessed one EVER. I first met him on the big day at the Salamander Resort in Middleburg. Morgan was enjoying a spa day and they were going to have lunch after. (Excellent planning on Derek's part). I got there while Derek was waiting for her to finish. He was all smiles and so excited. It was infectious. Catching their proposal was so special and it's something I will never forget. Luckily they loved their photos and agreed to hire me as their wedding photographer. (Or they felt obligated. Either way, I won.)

Derek and Morgan, thank you for trusting me. You guys are hilarious and are so great together. I look forward to conning you into more photo engagements.

Austin & Taylor

Kate's beautiful cousin, Taylor, married the man of her dreams at Southern Exposure in Battle Creek, Michigan. We had so much to explore at this magical venue. Luckily the storms ended right before we arrived, so we got to roam and take full advantage of the grounds. Taylor, Austin, and their bridal party and family were the absolute sweetest. Everything ran so smoothly and everyone was just so happy to be there to support these two. It was a beautiful day and a crazy fun night!

Jonesing for Allie

I had the pleasure of capturing David & Allie's wedding at Deep Creek in McHenry, MD. I met Allie years ago through a mutual friend and I instantly liked her. She's so down to earth, kind, and hilarious. So I wasn't surprised when I met David and immediately thought the same. (And together they made one kick ass creature, Marleigh.) Their day was gorgeous and full of laughter (thanks, bridal party). AND the rain held off until just right before midnight, so they got their dose of luck (not that they need it).

David & Allie, thank you for allowing me to tag along on your journey. You two light up together and that radiates to everyone around you. (My face actually hurts from smiling while I was editing.)

#ParkerLikeitsHot

Kate spent Friday with Amanda & Joe/Frank. Frank... Joe... Frank?! (inside joke) and it was the BEST! They were such a fun couple and crazy in love! From their unique and stylish family heirloom rings and their heartfelt pre-ceremony letters, to the fantastically casual (and delicious!) homestyle bbq dinner, this wedding had more character than a Disney movie! We loved every moment of their special day, and wish them a lifetime of happiness and golden-doodle kisses!

The Cashmans

Jack & Laura - where do I start. I had been so excited about this wedding since I met these two. I immediately bonded with both of them (probably because we spent most of the time talking about our dogs over margaritas). And then I turned into an immediate fan girl once I saw Laura perform with The BOAs in Reston one night. Watching Jack watch Laura was equally exciting.

So their wedding day finally came. Megan and I showed up to Laura's house - full of family and bridesmaids. As Laura was getting ready, her mother serenaded us with "Going to the Chapel" and I was immediately reminded of my 5 year old self, singing the same song with my mother when playing dress up.

Come ceremony time, I was getting a kick out of Jack and Laura giggling and exchanging sweet looks throughout mass. We got a little rain later in the day (wouldn't be a SASs wedding without it!) and Laura was the one calming everyone down. "Yanno, it is what it is. It will still be beautiful." And she was right.

They kicked of the reception with with "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" and the rest of the night rocked on... literally. Laura grabbed the mic and brought the house down with "You Shook Me All Night Long". A wedding for the books!

The 3rd of July

I had the pleasure of capturing Andrew & Brittany's beautiful wedding in Warrenton earlier this month. I already knew Brittany and some of the bridal party and so I was prepared to be thoroughly entertained. (Andrew's dance moves were a nice surprise!) I also got to meet their super adorable son, Finn, who coo-ed at all the right ceremony moments.

Like most of my weddings, they were sprinkled with just enough luck drops - not that they needed it.

Thank you Andrew & Brittany... (And call me when you need a babysitter.)

Mr. & Mrs. Hendryx

Megan and Chris (aka "Chen") were also one of our first couples to take a leap of faith with us. We had a blast shooting their engagement almost a year ago and can't believe how time flew and how much we grew as photographers (scroll through the website, you'll see!). This beautiful twosome tied the knot in Muskegon, Michigan and it was a blast! They had just enough rain for luck and just enough Fireball to have fun in it.

Megan and Chen, thank you for allowing us to have fun with you... and giving in to the countless forehead touchings.

It's Like Rain on Your Wedding Day

Meaghan and Jason celebrated their wedding a few weeks ago and it was perfect - yes, even in the drizzle. Megan shot with me and we couldn't get enough of the clear umbrella poses or Meghan's fur coat (one of her grandmother's only items brought when immigrating to the US - how special!) We also fell in love with Teagan - the twirling petal tossing mini goddess.

Thank you Meaghan & Jason for allowing us to capture this special day!

Virginia is for Lovers and Babers

I first met Ashley almost a year ago. My friend kindly referred me upon learning Ashley was recently engaged. Knowing I was a newbie photographer, Ashley immediately agreed to meet with me. Ashley was so cute, refined, and excited. I was so nervous because I desperately wanted to book weddings, but had nothing to show. She had such confidence in me from the get go.

Fast forward to the engagement shoot when I first met Jacob. I had already thought Ashley couldn't be more adorable, but oh my gosh - you could feel the spark between them. Ashley. lit. up. And Jacob was just as equally smitten. I'd have them pose initally and then they just started moving in this natural "ya duh we're in love, we got this" sort of way. It was a love groove. Our session went like this: "ya that looks good... oh - kiss her again! ok do that thing you just did when you thought I wasn't looking."

So naturally when wedding day came, I was pumped. I knew the day would go smoothly because Ashley is super organized, so it was no surprise that everything ran smoothly and looked beautiful! They had just enough morning rain for that touch of luck, too. It was a lovely and magical evening. Ashley and Jacob, you will always hold a special place in my heart. You trusted me with such an important task and believed in me. And I will never forget it.

Shout out to the Day of Coordinator, Kristin Corrigan. It was great working with you!

Givin a lil Thanks

I spent the last week with my family at Massanutten in VA.  It was the most time I've spent with just my parents and brothers since I graduated high school. A much needed family retreat to soak up time with our dad who has Glioblastoma (4 years and still truckin'!) Even though I'm 28, Joe is 25, and Dylan is 17, it's like we were time-warped to 15+ years ago. We still bickered over the same stuff like what music we played in the car and who ate the last of the Trix cereal (true story). But we also laughed about the same stuff and still made Dylan our lil be-yotch for everything. We were just a few miles from Skyline Drive, so we went there a few times. I just wanted some overdue family photos. Luckily my brothers are just as vain as I am and were obliged to model. My favorite quote was from Joe, "Sydney... I FAKED laughed for you."

(I had fun editing these with my new VSCO presets which I am now obsessed with.)
